When you have a dream or a big goal that you want to achieve or accomplish, you will most likely ask yourself before jumping two feet in, “am I ready to do this?”
This question has kept many of us from ever attempting or even starting to pursue our dreams and goals. The questions is unsettling in many ways because it reveals possible thoughts of doubt and uncertainty, two things that makes it almost impossible to accomplish anything in life if you let go unchecked.
The thing is, we all ask this question to ourselves and sometimes others that we trust. I personally think asking yourself if you are ready shows that you are a measured and centered person. Something that’s needed when it comes to accomplishing desired task and goals.
Now, before you answer the question of you being ready for that new job, business venture, relationship, or opportunity let me throw you a curve ball.
Those who would say yes to this question right off the top are highly likely to fail at attempting to achieve their said desire or goal.
Why? Because we don’t know what we don’t know and there is no way to prepare for that. No one is perfect and we will at some point miscalculate steps and make mistakes. That’s just a fact!
Many of us are pushed into pursuing our dreams and goals by some sort of circumstance or crisis in our lives. If you’ve ever had a big and really, really scary dream or goal that’s calling you from a job or to a new one, from a bad or unproductive relationship, or calling you to start that business you’re really passionate about, you understand what I’m talking about.
Therefore, if you asked yourself if you are ready to take on your ambitious goal, the answer is flat out NO!
You’re Never Ready!
Now, take a deep breath, don’t panic, and don’t let what I just said scare you from going after your dreams or goals. Instead, ask yourself this question.
“Am I willing to do whatever it takes to achieve my dream and goal?”
If you can answer yes to that question that’s all you need to know! There are two absolutes when it comes to achieving our goals.
One, problems and obstacles will soon be before you. And two, if you answered yes to being willing to do whatever it takes to overcome the problems and obstacles you will eventually achieve your goal and the success that you desire.
Saying yes to the later question, turns your mindset and inner emotions about your goal from “if” you can or will achieve your goal, to a mindset of “when” you will achieve your goal. This is also a much more powerful mindset that will build-up your confidence during your pursuit.
The ball is in your hands so remember, you can’t make it if you don’t shoot!
